Alumni Spotlight
At age 11, Wesley was voluntarily placed
in the Shiloh program because his mother
was struggling to care for him. The
placement became permanent and
Wesley spent two years at Shiloh.
Wesley said, "When I first came to
Shiloh, everyone was so welcoming and
really helped me adjust and make the
best of a difficult situation." Wesley was
placed in a group home after leaving
Shiloh, but returned when he was 18-
years-old to participate in Shiloh's
Emancipation Program which equips
young adults with important life skills such
as cooking, cleaning, and organizing -
allowing them to transition into
independent living. Of the program,
Wesley says, "It really helped me
become who I am today." And who is
Wesley today? At 21-years-old, Wesley
is seeking employment and plans on
starting nursing school in the fall. After
graduating from high school and Shiloh,
he moved into his own apartment and
reunited with is birth mom for the first
time in nine and a half years. They are
working to restore their relationship and
Wesley is looking to purchase his first
home within the next few months.
Wesley is so grateful for his time at Shiloh
House and especially of Steven Ramirez
saying, "Mr. Ramirez is so supportive
and caring and knows just what kids like like me need."
