Day Treatment
The Shiloh Home Day Treatment Program is designed for boys ages 7-18 facing challenges in the public school system, the legal system, or transitioning to a less restrictive environment. Day treatment offers daily therapeutic intervention to support youth learning the necessary social and behavioral skills so that they may succeed at home, in school and the community. Shiloh Home’s treatment team supports social skill development, conflict resolution and problem solving skills in an environment that respects continuing education.
What are the goals of the Day Treatment Program?
The Shiloh House Day Treatment Program goals focus on assisting in the development of behavioral and attitudinal stability for each youth upon arrival. Through the use of specialized containment-oriented treatment techniques, youth are able to connect with those individuals relevant to their success in the treatment team model (parents, case workers, teachers, clinicians, etc.).
Building blocks of the program include:
- Increased awareness by the youth about their own treatment needs and reasons for placement in the program
- Accurate recognition and identification of the problematic behaviors
- Relationship between thoughts, feelings and behaviors
- Opportunities to explore alternatives to their dysfunctional behaviors
- Develop new coping mechanisms (which we call "tools")
Once youth reach the transitional phase, clinical guidance is provided to assist in internalization of new behaviors and skills. Youths are supported in developing plans for the future, developing new, healthy forms of recreation and acquisition of job skills in order to develop new interests and successful integration into public school and the community.
