Shiloh House is currently seeking a qualified individual to fill our Training & Mentor Coordinator position. An ideal candidate must have at least 2 years of college in a human services related field or 2 years of education with 5 years experience in a human services related field or education field.  Experience may be substituted for college with the approval of the Administrator.

Compensation:  In accordance with the Colorado  Equal Pay for Equal Work Act, the expected salary range for this Colorado position is between $52,000 - $70,000 per year. Actual pay will  be adjusted based on experience and other job related factors permitted  by law.

Responsibilities:

 

Training Component -

  • The employee is responsible for the designated training components outlined by their supervisor to assist with and complete portions of the Initial Shiloh Training  with all new hires. If the employee is not able to complete their role in the training week, they will find a suitable replacement to provide such trainings without the use of overtime. 

  • The employee will spend the necessary time in Shiloh House programs providing additional support to staff who require extra assistance. 

  • The employee will work closely with the Human Resources Department in scheduling training for all staff. 

  • The employee is responsible for record keeping of all staff and their respective trainings. 

  • The employee will be responsible in conjunction with supervisors, to support employees in all departments to gain continuous skill development. 

Interaction with Clients -

  • The employee maintains professional boundaries with clients while creating a nurturing and accepting environment on an ongoing basis.

  • The employee communicates and interacts with clients respectfully, utilizing appropriate word choices and refraining from derogatory comments or name calling.

  • The employee demonstrates the ability to identify behaviors, anticipate potential problems, and meet the needs of individuals on an ongoing basis.

Mentorship Component -

  • Rapport Building and Setting Direction: Month 1 and 2 for all new residential and education new hires, the mentor and mentee will meet 1x per week.

  • Progression: Month 3 and 4 the mentor and mentee will meet 2x per month.

  • Evaluation: Month 5 and 6 the mentor and mentee will meet 1x per month.

  • Transition to Independence: Month 6+ the mentor will check in 1x per month or the mentee will check in with the mentor as needed.

  • When Appropriate Use Group Sessions: Consider incorporating group mentoring sessions or peer support, allowing youth care professionals to share experiences, challenges, and strategies. This can reduce the reliance on one-on-one mentorship and provide a broader support network.

  • The mentor should act as a positive role model and should have a positive outlook about Shiloh House and exhibit the behaviors that align with the mission, vision and values of the agency.

  • The mentor will take the initiative to make contact with the mentee upon the first week of hire and begin to establish the relationship.

  • The mentor will attentively listen and avoid or redirect distractions or workplace drama that do not pertain to the mentee.

  • The mentor will offer suggestions that are in alignment with the supervisor or manager of the mentee.

  • The mentor will respect the privacy, confidentiality, and time commitments of the mentee.

  • The mentor will only make positive or neutral comments about the mentee.

  • The mentor will document meetings and contacts with the mentee outlining what was discussed and action steps and progress towards goals.

Requirements:

  • The Training & Mentor Coordinator must have at least 2 years of college in a human services related field or 2 years of education with 5 years experience in a human services related field or education field.  Experience may be substituted for college with the approval of the Administrator.

  • Must be willing & able to pass a criminal background check

  • Must be at least 23 years of age (will consider 21 years of age)

  • Must be able to pass a criminal background check

  • Must hold a valid Colorado driver’s license or have the ability to obtain one

  • Must meet agency MVR criteria

  • Due to the short length of stay of clients, mastery of direct care skills are a must
